Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking an Audit Senior with a nonprofit emphasis in Houston, TX. You will lead fieldwork, manage engagement teams and deliver high-quality external audits tailored to nonprofit organizations.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of progressive audit experience, a Bachelor's in Accounting, and strong communication skills. CPA is preferred, with CPA candidates considered; nonprofit experience and Form 990 knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and completion of external audit and assurance engagements for nonprofit and other clients.
• Supervise, mentor and review work of staff and seniors; provide on-the-job training and performance feedback.
• Develop audit programs, risk assessments and testing plans appropriate to each engagement.
• Evaluate internal controls, identify issues and recommend practical improvements to clients.
• Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures and supporting documentation in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Coordinate and communicate with client management and stakeholders to resolve technical accounting and audit matters.
• Assist with preparation and review of Form 990 and related nonprofit tax filings, or coordinate with tax team as needed.
• Ensure engagements comply with firm policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements; maintain engagement documentation.
• Manage engagement timelines and budgets, delegate tasks effectively, and elevate issues when necessary.
• Support business development by building client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services.

• Minimum 3+ years of progressive external audit experience (required) with demonstrated audit skills.
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; advanced degree or coursework in accounting is a plus.
• Active CPA license preferred; CPA candidates in progress will be considered (nice-to-have).
• Experience working with nonprofit entities (NFP) and familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards is strongly preferred (nice-to-have).
• Knowledge of Form 990 preparation and related nonprofit reporting requirements is a plus (nice-to-have).
• Experience performing assurance engagements and applying professional auditing standards (nice-to-have).
• Proven ability to lead engagement teams, supervise staff and manage multiple engagements to timely completion.
• Strong technical accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and high-quality work standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build client relationships.
• Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office; willingness to learn firm-specific tools.
