Job summary

Sora Resource Group, a Progressive regional CPA firm, seeks an Audit Senior to fast-track into management. The role offers paid overtime at time and a half and a balanced work life in a hybrid environment. You will perform audits, supervise staff, review work, and ensure quality through all phases of engagements. Travel to client sites is required.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA or is pursuing licensure, with at least two years in public accounting and strong GAAP/GAAS knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • At least two years of public accounting experience.
  • CPA license or actively pursuing CPA.
  • Ability to travel to client locations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS and PCAOB standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform audit or review procedures, or assist in other projects, as assigned.
  • Understand the client’s business and industry and accounting and control systems.
  • Assess risks and evaluate the client’s internal control structure.
  • Perform and document analytical procedures, substantive tests, and tests of controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
  • Review or draft financial statements and other client deliverables.
  • Directing, training, supervising and reviewing the work performed by staff and experienced staff auditors.
  • Build and maintain good client relationships.
  • Be actively involved in all phases of a client engagement, from planning to issuance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.

Senior Auditors have demonstrated an ability to proficiently perform the functions of an experienced staff auditor. Senior auditors perform most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. They often supervise one or more staff and/or experienced staff auditors, instruct them in work to be performed, review the work done, and direct necessary revisions. Senior auditors are provided a variety of diversified auditing and accounting assignments under the supervision of different professionals. Assessment of performance is based their ability to effectively run engagements, supervise staff, and on the quality of work, application of auditing and accounting knowledge, and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • At least two years of experience in public accounting
  • Holds a current and valid CPA’s license, or is working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam
  • Ability to travel to assigned client locations
  • Possess thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States, United States Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards
