Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an IT Controls Data Engineer to build the data infrastructure that powers audit readiness, IT controls, evidence automation, and continuous control monitoring. You’ll design and maintain pipelines, datasets, models, and dashboards, working across Security, IT, Infrastructure, Engineering, and Risk Management to turn complex system behavior into reliable control data products.

The ideal candidate has strong data engineering, SQL, and Python skills, with experience in enterprise

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering, analytics engineering background.
• Hands-on SQL experience and Python proficiency.
• Experience with enterprise data sources (identity, HR, tickets, cloud, SaaS).
• Ability to explain data lineage, validation, and control logic to auditors.

Responsibilities

• Building reliable data pipelines, models, and datasets for IT controls (access, identity, configuration, change, ticketing, evidence).
• Creating data quality, lineage, reconciliation, and completeness checks for SOX/audit use cases.
• Designing automated evidence generation workflows producing complete audit populations, exports, dashboards, and control artifacts.
• Developing control monitoring logic to detect drift, missing evidence, stale access, and direct system changes.
• Partnering with Security, IT, Infrastructure, Engineering, Risk Management, and system owners to validate data and improve automation.
• Translating technical system behavior and data flows into clear explanations for auditors and stakeholders.
