General Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Premium Audit Processing Specialist is responsible for understanding and examining financial records, as well as state manual rules and regulations, to complete accurate virtual audits and determine the true premium on insured’s Workers’ Compensation (work comp) policies. They will collaborate with other departments as subject matter experts and work with insureds to handle and resolve audit disputes. Training on state rules and regulations will be provided, forming a foundation for a career in premium auditing.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Develop knowledge of manual rules, regulations, and company standards to prepare and process final premium audits and revisions.
  2. Review claims: verify employment of major claims and correct class codes assigned.
  3. Investigate disputes and discrepancies in payroll and classification data, communicating findings to supervisors or managers.
  4. Perform a high volume of audits monthly to meet production standards.
  5. Complete workload within company KPI standards.
  6. Maintain excellent relationships with agencies, policyholders, and interdepartmental teams. Educate agents and underwriters on classification.
  7. Research proper classifications within workers’ comp bureaus and guidelines.
  8. Handle clerical functions such as answering phones, emails, and audit inquiries promptly to ensure excellent customer service.
  9. Notify relevant departments (Underwriting, Claims, Fraud) as appropriate.
  10. Endorse renewal policies based on audit findings.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. 0-3 years of premium audit experience applying bureau rules (W.C.I.R.B., N.C.C.I.) or related experience preferred.
  2. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  3. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  4. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation). Ability to convey complex information clearly.
  5. Attention to detail in reviewing and identifying relevant records.
  6. Intermediate computer skills (spreadsheets, email, 10-key by touch).
  7. Ownership and accountability for work output and decisions.
  8. Basic accounting, bookkeeping, and mathematical skills.
  9. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Education

Two years of college or equivalent education/experience considered.
