About the Opportunity:
We're looking for an experienced Audit Manager who specializes in Government and Nonprofit Auditing within a public accounting firm environment that is ready to step into a leadership role — someone who thrives on balancing high-quality client service, technical excellence, and team mentorship. What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead Engagements: Plan, manage, and review audits, ensuring all procedures meet professional standards and exceed client expectations.
- Mentor and Develop: Provide day-to-day guidance and long-term mentorship to staff, balancing workloads and nurturing professional growth.
- Execute with Precision: Participate directly in all stages of audit execution — from planning to wrap-up — while bringing fresh, innovative ideas to every engagement.
- Collaborate Strategically: Work with audit teams to set objectives, define audit strategies, and monitor progress against budgets and timelines.
- Enhance Practices: Supervise and review the work of others to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with best practices.
- Stay Agile: Adjust audit plans as needed, ensuring optimal team performance and client satisfaction.
- Drive Culture: Serve as a role model of integrity, enthusiasm, and professionalism while promoting the firm’s vision and values.
Basic Qualifications - What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with significant progress toward completing the CPA exam.
- 5+ years of experience in a public accounting setting with Demonstrable, noteworthy accounting and auditing knowledge.
- Experience managing audit and assurance (A&A) jobs.
- Multi-industry experience a plus (construction, manufacturing, small business, healthcare, technology, non-profit, government, benefit plans, etc.).
- Deep understanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as applied to Government and Nonprofit entities.
- Prior experience leading audit teams and reviewing the work of others.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client and firm information.
- Value teamwork and know the power of building strong relationships.
- Professional communication skills and ability to think and work independently.
Bonus Skills and Attributes:
- Professional, positive, and energetic approach to team and client interactions.
- Knowledge of the PPC audit approach and CCH ProSystem FX experience a plus.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with excellent project management skills.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable learning and applying new software platforms.
