Job summary

CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) is seeking an Audit Director/Audit Manager to join our Higher Education practice in Texas. The role focuses on leading audits, client relationships, and staff development in a top national firm with a strong public service orientation.

Houston-based anytime. The position requires CPA licensure and at least 6 years of public accounting audit experience, preferably in higher education, with leadership of teams and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum of 6 years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
• CPA license required; leadership of teams preferred in higher education audits.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with clients in higher education.
• Assist clients in obtaining funding to positively impact their communities.
• Assist clients with audit and financial planning objectives using available tools.
• Mentor staff, oversee client engagement teams and staff development.
• Lead engagement progress, monitor budgets and deadlines, and communicate updates to the engagement principal.

How you'll create opportunities in this Audit Director/ Manager role:

• Manage and develop relationships with great clients.
• Assist clients in obtaining necessary funding to continue to positively impact their community.
• Assist clients with meeting their audit and financial planning objectives by using a range of tools.
• Be creative with staff development, mentoring, and overseeing client engagement teams.
• Lead the engagement progress by monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence.Communicate important developments to the engagement principal along with facts, conclusions, and recommendations.

What you will need:

• You have a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• You have a minimum of 6 years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
• Experience leading teams of high performing people and managing Higher Education audits strongly preferred
• CPA license certification is required.
