Job summary

Legado Talent is seeking an Audit Manager to lead and manage audit engagements for a diverse client base, ensuring GAAP/GAAS compliance, high-quality delivery, and strong client relationships. The role focuses on planning, execution, and reporting with a hybrid schedule.

You will mentor staff, oversee HUD and healthcare audits, and provide actionable insights to strengthen internal controls and financial reporting. CPA preferred or actively pursuing, 5–8+ years of public accounting experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required or actively pursuing.
  • 5–8+ years of public accounting experience with progressive audit responsibility.
  • Proven experience managing audit engagements and leading teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple audit engagements from planning through issuance, ensuring compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead audit planning, including risk assessment, materiality, and development of audit strategies.
  • Review workpapers, financial statements, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure timely delivery of audit reports and client deliverables.
  • Lead HUD audits, including compliance with Uniform Guidance and applicable reporting requirements.
  • Manage audits within regulated healthcare environments, ensuring adherence to industry-specific standards.
  • Oversee ERISA pension plan audits, including testing of plan assets, contributions, and compliance.
  • Stay current on evolving regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, consultative relationships.
  • Deliver actionable insights to improve internal controls and financial reporting processes.
  • Communicate audit findings clearly to client leadership and stakeholders.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop audit staff and seniors.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance oversight.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Position Overview

The Audit Manager is responsible for leading and managing audit and assurance engagements for a diverse client base, ensuring high-quality service delivery, technical accuracy, and compliance with professional standards. This role oversees engagement teams, manages client relationships, and plays a key role in delivering efficient, insight-driven audit solutions.

This individual will help elevate the audit process into a collaborative and value-added experience, providing meaningful recommendations that support clients’ financial reporting, internal controls, and operational performance.
