Job summary

Career Legal is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its Audit & Assurance team in the United States. The role focuses on leading audit engagements, mentoring staff, and driving business development with a client-focused approach.

You will oversee diverse engagements across industries, manage budgets, review work, and collaborate with partners to resolve issues. Local travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (or equivalent).
  • Active CPA license is preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience including supervisory responsibilities.

Job description

A well-established and growing public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its Audit & Assurance team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a client-focused leader who enjoys managing engagements, mentoring staff, and playing an active role in business development.

The successful candidate will oversee a diverse portfolio of audit, review, and compilation engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to clients across a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning through completion.
  • Lead multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their primary point of contact throughout the year.
  • Review work prepared by staff and provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Develop engagement budgets, monitor progress, and manage profitability.
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify opportunities to improve client processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with professional standards.
  • Collaborate with partners to resolve technical issues and communicate engagement progress.
  • Participate in business development by identifying new opportunities and cultivating relationships with prospective clients and referral sources.
  • Assist with recruiting, staff development, and internal training initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (or equivalent qualifying education).
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 6+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing audit engagements and leading client relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and growing client relationships is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, auditing standards, and internal controls.
  • Experience with CCH or similar audit and tax software is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally to client sites, with occasional overnight travel as required.
