Job summary

Bennett Thrasher is offering a Spring 2028 internship in Dallas, TX for Financial Reporting & Assurance Services (Audit). Interns will assist in preparing financial statements and engage with clients under supervision, gaining exposure to multiple industries.

Interns will explore BT’s audit approach, perform procedures, document workpapers, and participate in mentoring through the Buddy program while working a 40-hour week. A GPA of 3.2+ in accounting is expected.

Qualifications

• Working towards undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting with a GPA of 3.2 or higher
• Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work 40 hours a week

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of accounting and auditing standards/theory
• Develop understanding of BT’s Audit Approach and its applicability to sections (including completion of audit programs)
• Clearly document working papers
• Review data about assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenditures in assigned sections
• Develop and perform analytical procedures on account balances
• Demonstrate effective use of technology and software (including Accounting Research Manager)
• Plan and perform audits to ensure financial statements are presented per GAAP
• Work with firm leadership to provide quality service to clients
• Receive mentoring through the Buddy program

Bennett Thrasher is seeking Financial Reporting & Assurance Services (Audit) internship candidates for a Spring 2028 internship in Dallas, TX.

Audit interns are presented with the opportunity to experience several different industries during their internship. Duties will include performing financial reporting engagement procedures, assisting in preparing and proofing financial statements and other documents, as well as interaction with clients as directed by Seniors and Managers. Bennett Thrasher strives to give our interns the responsibilities and experience similar to that of a first-year staff.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of accounting and auditing standards/theory
• Develop an understanding of BT’s Audit Approach and its applicability to assigned sections (including completion of audit programs as directed by supervisors)
• Clearly and adequately document working papers
• Review data about material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income and expenditures in completing assigned sections
• Develop and perform effective analytical procedures on account balances and relate such outcomes to other assigned areas, where applicable
• Demonstrate effective use of current technology and software, including researching technical issues utilizing Accounting Research Manager
• Plan and perform operational and financial audits to ensure that financial statements are fairly presented in accordance with GAAP using firm audit approach
• Work effectively with all levels of firm leadership to provide quality service to clients
• Receive mentoring through our Buddy program

Qualifications

Working towards undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting with a GPA of 3.2 or higher
