Ascend, based in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks an Experienced Audit Associate to work on diverse audit engagements for commercial and nonprofit clients, including construction and auto dealerships. This role fits an auditor with 1–3 years of public accounting experience ready to take on greater responsibility and broaden client exposure.

You'll collaborate with a team, manage assignments from start to finish, and apply US GAAP/GAAS standards while meeting budgets and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of external audit experience in public accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and GAAS, and internal controls.
• CPA license, CPA eligibility, or active progress toward CPA licensure.

Responsibilities

• Support audit engagements for diverse for-profit and nonprofit clients.
• Prepare workpapers, lead schedules, reconciliations, and analyses.
• Tie out trial balances, financial statements, and disclosures for accuracy.
• Apply GAAP/GAAS and internal control principles to engagements.
• Communicate clearly with clients and engagement team members.
