This position is responsible for conducting basic newborn hearing screening tests, including automated auditory brainstem response (AABR) and otoacoustic emission (OAE) testing, on all newborns in the University of Virginia well-baby, transitional, and NICU nurseries prior to discharge.
Requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending, stooping, traveling, climbing (ladders, steps), and driving. Must have proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills, attention to detail, and legible handwriting. Ability to lift, push, or pull over 100 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor conditions, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
