Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is seeking an Audiology Assistant to join their team at the main hospital located in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh. This in-person role requires the assistant to be on-site for 2-3 hours daily, typically during the mid-day hours.

The Audiology Assistant will support audiologists by using audiometric equipment and helping with patient testing or newborn hearing screenings. They will also handle clerical tasks related to the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep clinic, testing areas, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Complete forms, paperwork, and other clerical tasks as needed.
  • Consult with the audiologist or manager if there are equipment or other issues.
  • Use resources efficiently and report shortages of supplies to the manager/director.
  • Use audiometric equipment for testing.
  • Participate in quality assurance, confidentiality, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with patient testing and education.
  • Help families with educational support, such as contacting them about programs and providing materials.
  • Prepare and ship hearing aids and related items, and process incoming ones.
  • Help families schedule appointments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting Cochlear Implant equipment.
  • Support testing and programming procedures for Cochlear Implants.
  • Perform electroacoustic analysis on hearing aids, new and repaired.
  • Retrieve and record test results according to department standards.
  • Ensure patient safety by contacting a physician for any incidents related to patient care.
  • High School diploma.
  • 1 year of experience in health care or a child care setting.
  • BS in health related field preferred.
  • Analytical ability to understand testing equipment and procedures.
  • Audio and visual acuity for observation of test analysis.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to frequently interact with patients of various developmental levels and family members in periods of emotional stress.

Clearances/Licensure:

  • Act 31 Clearance with renewal
  • Act 33 Clearance with renewal
  • Act 34 Clearance with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
