Job Summary

The Audio-Visual Technician II is responsible for operational support and maintenance of peripherals, multimedia control systems, and computers. Responsible for the upkeep of inventory for all podium equipment in order to help plan refresh cycles. Works with AV Systems Engineers and vendors to execute designs for teaching, learning spaces and conference rooms.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and operates multimedia systems, including audio-visual equipment and computers, in classrooms, learning spaces, and conference rooms to ensure seamless functionality for teaching, presentations, and collaborative activities.
  • Resolves internal customer problems and ensures correct operation of audio-visual equipment both remotely and in person.
  • Maintains equipment inventory and logs all service/repair activity.
  • Processes orders, logs, and controls loan equipment inventory.
  • Tracks tickets and work effort in work order system.
  • Creates documentation to be used in training for faculty and offers assistance in the classrooms as needed.
  • Creates documentation to be used by staff in conference rooms and offers assistance in the conference rooms as needed.
  • Is the tier 3 escalation point for Help Desk technicians for teaching and learning spaces and conference rooms.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a high school diploma and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Related full-time experience in multimedia technical system support, helpdesk support, or other closely related experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an area of appropriate specialization.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience with technical support of computer and multimedia systems; operating and troubleshooting classroom media presentation systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to configure and utilize audio/video streaming software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of desktop computers and basic networking concepts.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations when numerous and complex demands are involved.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and to learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.
