Job summary

FORTÉ in Dallas, TX is seeking a Design Engineer to plan and design AV systems for diverse environments, from classrooms to control centers. You will provide technical leadership for architecture, installation, and integration, delivering high-quality CAD drawings and system descriptions that meet customer needs.

Applicants should have knowledge of control systems and DSP platforms, with CTS credentials a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of design engineering experience in AV systems.
• Experience in service and installation of audio/video/presentation systems.
• Familiarity with control systems and DSP platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and schematics.
• CTS/CTS-D or similar certifications are a plus.

What You Will be doing:

• Provide technical expertise to support the architecture, installation and planning of audio, video and control solutions
• Completes documentation with a high degree of quality and follows Technical Services Standards. Services include CAD drawings (flows, plans, elevations, details), system descriptions, equipment research, selection, custom product design and system integration.
• Research and analyze the capabilities of available hardware and software options
• Design audiovisual systems of various hardware and software components that work together as one integrated system and that meet customer’s specific needs
• Support projects and our team throughout the implementation process.

Requirements to Assure Success:

• 3+ years of Design Engineering experience is preferred.
• Prior experience in the service and installation of audio, video and presentation systems
• Knowledgeable of control systems (Crestron, QSC, Extron, AMX) and DSP platforms (Biamp, QSC, Clearone, BSS)
• Ability to prepare, understand, and interpret advanced single-line diagrams, architectural, construction, and electrical drawings
• Knowledge of project financial reports, and the ability to control costs in the design and management of projects is essential
• Ability to read engineering schematics and communicate design intent
• CTS and CTS-D certifications are a plus, but not required with the right experience. Any other industry related certs or training are also a plus. (Ex: Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Shure etc.)
