NYU seeks an on-site AV technician for Dance and New Media. The role supports lighting, audio/video equipment, cameras, and streaming for stage productions and classroom use. Responsibilities include maintenance, repair, and delivery of gear, plus capture and circulation of production footage.

The position requires 3 years of AV experience, High School diploma or equivalent, and considers an AV certification as a plus. The role is 100% on-site and pays hourly.

Position Summary

Perform a variety of technical tasks for Dance and New Media, including use of lighting, audio/video equipment, camera equipment, and streaming for stage dance productions and studio/classroom use. Maintain departmental equipment and its storage and monitor pick-up/drop-off services. Provide technical support services including equipment repair and installation, equipment delivery and retrieval for both stage and classroom use. Operate a wide variety of media equipment including specialized equipment requiring significant training. Operate equipment during dance productions, including streaming performances. Capture, archive, and circulate production footage. Perform skilled equipment maintenance and repairs. Position is 100% on-site.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Education: A/V Certification Required Experience: 3 years' experience with a/v technology, camera and film equipment, and projectors Preferred Experience: Prior experience in coordinating the work of production crews; experience with sound and video design for live performances. Dance preferable. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of streaming and production practices. Ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot audio reinforcement and video playback, intercom systems, Mac OS computers, Qlab software, ATEM and OBS. Ability to learn new technologies.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Audio editing/live mix; video editing, Isadora software, and streaming software.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $39.14. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
