Job summary

Google is seeking a senior software engineer to own outcomes across Android and embedded audio features. You will work on projects critical to Google’s Pixel devices, collaborating with ML, product management, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end experiences while navigating tight performance constraints.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of programming, strong background in C++, Java, Python, Android, and embedded systems, plus a track record in audio tech and cross-functional delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
  • 5 years of experience with Android application development.
  • Experience working with embedded systems, or audio technologies.
  • Experience designing business system solutions and partnering with product owners and engineering implementation teams to prioritize requirements and define the delivery roadmap
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with ML research, technology development and Product Management teams to define the roadmap of audio features for Pixel devices.
  • Implement experiences and features direct, working with codebases throughout the stack from embedded to high level OS application.
  • Decomposes projects into sub-components for team members to deliver.
  • Designs shippable solutions that fit within extremely constrained compute environments, respecting power, performance, latency and user experience tradeoffs.
  • Obsesses over Pixel Audio quality, polishing and perfecting product to create delightful audio experiences for users.

  • Specialization in Audio processing, system optimization, performance tuning and market delivery.
  • Embedded development with strong sense of engineering power, latency, performance tradeoffs.
  • Ability to navigate software stacks and frameworks, from embedded systems to higher level applications; connecting software stacks to deliver end-to-end user features.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
