Your Role Accountabilities…

A CNN Broadcast A1 is an essential member of the production team. You are skilled in audio mixing and enhancing various audio elements for live and pre-produced events. The primary environment is in-studio, but remote production is also possible.

  • Set up, operate, and skillfully mix audio for various live and pre-produced productions.

  • Ensure quality assurance for all audio sources and related components.

  • Enhance production value through creative selection of music and effects.

  • Collaborate with the Show Director and stakeholders.

  • Prepare in advance by reviewing rundowns, selecting equipment, mics, and planning audio.

  • Manage and document audio board show files and related elements.

Qualifications & Experience…

You are a strong multitasker, capable of prioritizing and executing multiple requests simultaneously. Knowledge of digital audio consoles, playback devices, and intercom systems is required. You should work well under pressure and demonstrate strong teamwork skills. Willingness to learn new technologies and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.

Minimum experience requirements include:

  • 1 to 3 years of industry experience mixing in a live news environment, with operational knowledge of all control room positions and familiarity with all aspects of live TV and pre/post production.

  • Awareness of various audio boards, with control room or field production experience.

  • Proficiency with audio components including intercom and ancillary equipment (e.g., Enco, AZ Edit, Evertz routers).

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, 24/7 news environment.

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university or demonstrated experience in the audio field.

Salaries vary based on factors like market data, location, skills, experience, and performance.
