Job summary

Slate is seeking an Attribute Integration Engineer, Body and Interior Accessories, to lead the development, integration and validation of accessory attributes across the vehicle platform. This role defines requirements and ensures vehicle-level performance at the interface of Slate Access Points, enabling seamless personalization of customer vehicles.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration to meet performance, quality and customer-experience goals throughout the product development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years automotive vehicle development experience in Body/Interior at component, system, and vehicle levels.
  • Design Release Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Accessory or aftermarket part experience is a plus.
  • Broad vehicle development process knowledge: setting targets, feasibility, integration, validation.
  • Regulatory experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, or other requirements.
  • Technical writing and documentation experience required.
  • Excellent team-building and relationship-building skills; strong collaboration & tradeoff decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; cross-functional teamwork.
  • Highly adaptable, thrives in start-up/new model launch environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vehicle-level targets and implementation for SAPs; voice of the customer for the complete vehicle.
  • Oversee integration of all Accessories and SAPs, including requirements, feasibility and validation at vehicle level.
  • Identify and resolve integration and design issues during vehicle development.
  • Lead Accessory and SAP team meetings with cross-functional teams to align targets and validate solutions.
  • Present recommended solutions to management and lead problem-resolution efforts.
  • Maintain vehicle-level scorecards with team input.

Who We Are Looking For

Slate is looking for an energetic, experienced and effective Attribute Integration Engineer, Body and Interior Accessories to lead the development, integration, and validation of Body and Interior accessory attributes across the vehicle platform. This role is responsible for defining requirements and ensuring vehicle-level performance at the interface of Slate Access Points (SAPs), enabling seamless integration of accessory parts and supporting customer vehicle personalization.

The Attribute Integration Engineer will drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure Accessory systems meet performance, quality, and customer experience expectations throughout the product development lifecycle. This individual will oversee key aspects of accessory integration and serve as a critical link between engineering teams to deliver robust, customer-focused solutions.

The Attribute Integration Engineer, Body and Interior Accessories will help to oversee many aspects of our product and report to the Engineering Manager, Accessory Integration.

What You Get To Do
  • Development of vehicle level targets and implementation for all SAPs, while serving as a voice of the customer for the complete vehicle.
  • Oversee vehicle integration of all Accessories and SAPs, including requirements, feasibility (virtually and physically), and validation at the vehicle level.
  • Identify and resolve Accessory integration and design issues as the vehicle is developed.
  • Lead Accessory and SAP team meetings, working with all product development teams, including systems and components, packaging, manufacturing, accessories, and service to ensure the technical targets are set, solutions are optimized for all stages of the vehicle's life, and validation is executed.
  • Lead the team in problem resolution, with the ability to present recommended solutions to the management team.
  • Maintain vehicle level scorecards with input from the team.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of automotive vehicle development experience within Body and Interior at the component level, system level, and vehicle level, including target setting, feasibility, integration, and validation at the vehicle level.
  • Design Release Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Accessory or aftermarket part experience is a plus.
  • Broad vehicle development process knowledge, including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically), and validate with statistical confidence.
  • Functional experience with all NHTSA / FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, or other regulatory requirements.
  • Technical writing and documentation experience is required.
  • Excellent team building and relationship building skills, including the ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start‑up and new model launch environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 20%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
