Job summary

Washington State Attorney General's Office (AGO) in Seattle seeks an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) to represent the Department of Labor and Industries in civil litigation, including workers' compensation, health and safety, and employment standards matters. The LNI Division emphasizes professional growth, mentorship, and flexible schedules with telework opportunities while maintaining a high standard of excellence.

Travel statewide may be required.

Qualifications

  • Interest in litigating worker health and safety cases before tribunals and courts.
  • Strong civil litigation and discovery experience.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, public-service environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic case management and remote hearings.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and cross-examine in hearings and depositions.
  • Manage motion practice and discovery effectively.
  • Research, draft briefs and pleadings; present arguments.
  • Engage with outside parties and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate resolutions and settlements.
  • Represent clients in state and appellate courts.
