Job summary

Brickstech is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its North Jersey team in Jersey City. The ideal candidate has 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience and is comfortable independently managing a caseload while collaborating with senior litigators.

New Jersey automobile liability defense experience is strongly preferred, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement that typically requires 2–3 days per week in the Jersey City office.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active New Jersey law license
• 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience
• Experience independently managing litigation matters
• Experience handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practice
• Strong legal research/writing and oral advocacy skills

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, reports, and other litigation documents
• Conduct and defend depositions, handle motion practice and court appearances
• Participate in arbitrations and mediations, prepare matters for trial
• Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law
• Maintain relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and corporate clients
• Conduct legal research, draft persuasive motions/briefs/memoranda

Position Overview

This role is designed for an attorney with 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience who is comfortable independently managing a caseload while working closely with experienced litigators and firm leadership. Experience handling New Jersey automobile liability matters is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, reports, and other litigation documents
• Conduct and defend depositions, handle motion practice and court appearances
• Participate in arbitrations and mediations, prepare matters for trial
• Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law

Education & Experience Requirements

Required:

Strong Plus:

New Jersey automobile liability defense experience; experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities; arbitration/mediation/trial/courtroom experience; premises liability experience; existing relationships with insurance carriers or claims professionals.

Work Environment

Flexible hybrid — new attorneys generally expected 2-3 days/week in the Jersey City office initially, loosely enforced.
