A county government in Texas is seeking Attorneys to manage moderately complex civil or criminal law cases. Candidates must hold a J.D./LL.B. and have at least three years of licensed attorney experience. This position involves legal research, drafting legal documents, and preparing cases for trial. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Texas and will work in a demanding environment with diverse responsibilities.
Practices civil or criminal law for Texas County or District government. Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the fifth in a series of seven attorney-related job classifications within the Attorneys job family. This classification handles cases and matters that are moderately complex and that may result in moderately severe consequences without supervision. Special Project Worker end date 9/30/2026, may be continued.
Education and Experience:
Attorney Ill - J.D./LL.B. from an accredited law school AND three (3) years licensed attorney work experience.
Salary $92,000.00
Attorney IV - J.D./LL.B. from an accredited law school AND four (4) years licensed attorney work experience.
Salary $95,000.00
Attorney V - J.D./LL.B. from an accredited law school AND six (6) years licensed attorney work experience.
Salary $104,312.44

Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, client/customer contact, squatting to perform the essential functions.
Travis County employees play an important role in business continuity. As such, employees can be assigned to business continuity efforts outside of normal job functions.
Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday-Friday. May work some holidays, some nights, some weekends. Location: 314 W 11th Street, Granger Building. Department: County Attorney. Criminal, Education, and Employment Background Checks Required.
