Job summary

Legal Services of North Florida seeks an Attorney (Elder Law) to lead the Elder Stability Legal Project, delivering civil legal services to older adults. The role includes estate planning, wills and powers of attorney, public benefits, housing stability, and related elder law matters, with a focus on access to justice.

You will educate the community, run legal clinics, and partner with organizations while mentoring other staff to strengthen the elder law program.

Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for a civil practice Attorney. LSNF handles more than 9,700 cases a year and does not charge their clients for their legal services. Be a part of a non-profit law firm, with 130+ employees in eight offices across North Florida, that seeks legal justice while understanding the value of work-life balance. This position can be located in any of our office locations.

This attorney will lead our Elder Stability Legal Project, a new initiative providing a broad range of civil legal services to older adults. This position offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older adults through legal advice and representation on matters including estate planning, wills and powers of attorney, public benefits, housing stability, and other elder law issues. The attorney will also expand access to legal services through community education and engagement, legal clinics, and partnerships, while providing training and mentorship to other LSNF staff members to strengthen our program-wide elder law practice.

Attorneys at LSNF have the ability to work collaboratively with superior legal professionals in civil litigation and administrative law to strategize and advocate on behalf of clients and seek justice. LSNF legal staff also engage in significant litigation including large scale impact work and appellate work. To fulfill the mission to remove barriers to legal access, LSNF carries out community education and outreach with two Justice on the Block mobile response units where individuals can speak to an attorney, apply for our services, or have assistance filing pro se documents.

Applicants should be a member of The Florida Bar in good standing, with preference given to candidates with public interest or legal aid experience. Candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills, be comfortable interacting with clients, and have a desire to advocate.

Salary offers depend on experience.
