Job summary

Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) seeks an Attorney for the Casa Grande Office to provide free civil legal services to low-income residents across Southeast Arizona.

The attorney will regularly appear in Pinal County courts, handle landlord/tenant, family, and consumer matters, and travel countywide to meetings and hearings. The role includes community outreach, collaboration with diverse communities, and upholding equal access to justice.

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Arizona Bar or be willing to take the next bar exam.
• Zero to five years' experience, including internships and third-year practice.
• Sensitivity to the problems of the low-income community and ability to work with low income and multicultural groups.
• Knowledgeable in general civil practice on behalf of the low-income community; Spanish fluency is helpful.

Responsibilities

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

ATTORNEY- CASA GRANDE OFFICE

SALA provides free legal assistance to low-income people over 9 counties and 11 IndianReservations in Southeast Arizona. The attorney assigned to the Casa Grande office will make regularappearances in Pinal County Superior Court, the county's Justice Court precincts, and various administrative
tribunals. Travel to meet with clients and appear at hearings across the county is required. Much of the workinvolves landlord/tenant, family, and consumer law. The attorney will participate in community outreach atlocations throughout the county to increase public awareness of legal aid services. Casa Grande, located halfway between Phoenix and Tucson, is a vibrant, multicultural city offering a family-oriented environmentwith easy access to urban amenities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Applicants must be a member of the Arizona Bar or be willing to take the next bar exam. Applicants licensed at least two years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule, Ariz. R. Sup. Ct. 38. Criminal background check required.
2. Applicants should have zero to five years' experience, including internships and third-year practice under the supervision of a licensed attorney.
3. Applicants must exhibit a high degree of sensitivity to the problems of the low-income community and be able to work with low income and community groups. They should have initiative, good communication skills, and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural setting
4. Applicants should be knowledgeable in general civil practice on behalf of the low-income community. Spanish fluency is helpful.

COMPENSATION

Salary range $58,656 - $101,915 DOE; Up to five percent additional compensation to individuals fluent in Spanish. Payment of bar exam and admission fees for those not yet admitted. Student loanrepayment assistance. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility. Excellent benefits package includinghealth insurance, disability insurance, and pension plan.
