Job summary

Law Offices of Michael Clark in Washington, DC is seeking an attorney to represent our existing client base. The ideal candidate will work closely with the firm’s clients, administrative staff, and senior partners, handling a diverse caseload with stellar research and writing skills and effective communication using today’s technology.

The role includes preparing legal documents, performing research, identifying conflicts, supervising staff, and guiding clients on proper courses of action.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills are required.
• Proficient in legal research software such as Westlaw and Lexis.
• Active membership in the local bar association is preferred; association status is expected.
• Ability to work independently while managing a heavy caseload.
• 2–5 years of experience in representing clients in arbitrations and trials; WSBA membership required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents including motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs.
• Identify client conflicts and determine case strategies with options for resolution.
• Supervise paralegals and administrative staff in timekeeping, billing, and client meetings.
• Provide legal counsel by analyzing client needs and determining proper actions.
• Manage all aspects of personal injury litigation from filing to trial/arbitration or settlement.

Compensation

$100,000 yearly

Responsibilities

• Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence
• Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs
• Identify client conflicts and determine case strategies with options for resolution
• Preside over paralegals, administrative assistants in connection with keeping track of time records, reviewing client billing, setting up client meetings and completing client projects
• Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action
• Handle all aspects of litigating personal injury cases from initial filing through trial/arbitration or settlement

Qualifications

• Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills required
• Well-versed in legal research software (Westlaw/Lexis)
• Jobseekers should be a member of their local bar association - active member preferred Association
• Work independently while handling a heavy caseload
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in a law firm environment
