Job summary

Brooks & Berne PLLC is seeking a Junior Associate in Litigation (Insurance Defense) to join our remote-first New Jersey team. You will assist senior attorneys on general liability and personal injury matters, gaining hands-on litigation experience in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates hold a J.D. from an accredited law school, are admitted or pending NJ Bar, and have up to 2 years of litigation exposure, including internships or clerkships.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admitted (or pending admission) to the New Jersey Bar
• 0-2 years of experience in litigation.
• Prior law clerkship experience strongly preferred
• Interest in insurance defense, personal injury or general liability matters

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing litigation files and handling assigned tasks with increasing independence
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands/responses, and legal memoranda
• Support depositions and court appearances, with mentorship and supervision
• Conduct legal research and communicate with clients and carriers
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation
• Comply with reporting guidelines and firm procedures

Position: Junior Associate - Litigation (Insurance Defense)

Pay Frequency: Semi-Monthly

Division: NewJersey

Work Location: Remote (Must live within commutable distance to New Jersey courts for appearances).

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or junior attorney with up to 2 years of experience who is looking to gain hands-on litigation experience in a fast-paced environment. The associate will work closely with senior attorneys and partners while supporting matters involving general liability and personal injury claims.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education/Certifications:
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admitted (or pending admission) to the New Jersey Bar

Experience:

• 0-2 years of experience in litigation.
• Prior law clerkship experience strongly preferred
• Interest in insurance defense, personal injury or general liability matters

PREFERRED SKILLS:
