Job summary

Quilling, Selander, Lownds, Winslett & Moser seeks an Associate Attorney to join our Real Estate Litigation practice with a focus on title litigation and title curative matters.

The Associate will represent lienholders and property owners in connection with title and lien disputes, resolve outstanding interests in property, investigate fraud in real estate transactions, represent title insurers in recoupment actions, and advise insurers on title coverage issues.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; Texas bar in good standing.
  • 2–4 years of real estate, title, or property-law experience (clerkships, title company, or in-house ok).
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation abilities with sharp attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Independently manage a litigation caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and mediations; negotiate settlements.
  • Communicate with shareholders, paralegals, and clients to ensure efficient case handling.
  • Examine title commitments, abstracts, searches; identify defects and cures.
  • Draft and review deeds, mortgages, easements, and other conveyance documents.
  • Resolve title issues from foreclosures, probate, or chain-of-title gaps.
  • Conduct legal research on real property, recording, and title-insurance questions.
  • Manage a portfolio of matters with client communications.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on real property, recording, and title-insurance questions and communicate findings clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Manage a portfolio of matters, maintain client communications, and meet deadlines.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in Texas, in good standing.
  • 2–4 years of experience in real estate, title, or property law (including relevant clerkships, title-company, or in-house experience).
  • Working knowledge of title examination, real property principles, recording systems, and closing procedures.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with title insurance underwriting and title-agency operations.
  • Experience with condemnation or eminent domain matters.
