Job summary

HealthDrive is seeking a part-time Attending Physician to oversee new admissions and collaborate with NPs caring for residents in sub-acute rehab and long-term care units. This on-site role avoids nights or on-call duties and offers flexible scheduling.

The physician will round on residents, participate in QA activities, and ensure quality care while complying with state and federal regulations. Maryland-based opportunity with supportive admin resources.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. medical license in the state of practice.
• Valid DEA/Controlled Substances license.
• Completed U.S. residency program.
• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently and with on-site staff.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to use email, the internet, and to learn healthcare software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Attending Physician for skilled nursing facilities/rehabs and participate in admin and quality initiatives.
• Attend monthly quality assurance/regulatory meetings and quarterly staff meetings.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives; provide guidance to facility staff; oversee care plans and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners to manage daily resident care across facilities.
• Provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care by rounding on residents.

Overview

HealthDrive is looking for a part-time (2 days per week - Mondays & Wednesdays) Attending Physician to handle new admissions and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners who are attending to skilled nursing residents in both the sub-acute rehab and long-term care units. The Attending Physician will promote good health practices and work collaboratively as a member of the medical staff. This is an on-site position (NOT remote).

Responsibilities

• The physician will serve as the Attending Physician for skilled nursing facilities/rehabs and will participate in administrative and quality initiatives for assigned facilities
• Attending Physician will attend and participate in monthly quality assurance/regulatory meetings and quarterly staff meetings
• The Attending Physician will participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide guidance to facility staff, oversee clinical care plans, compliance with state and federal regulations, and supervise facility clinical staff
• The physician collaborates with Nurse Practitioners to manage the daily care for each resident at each facility. Each facility will have a full-time NP assigned to the facility depending on the acuity and volume of the patient population
• The Attending Physician will provide high quality, patient-centered, comprehensive primary care services by rounding on patients residing in SNFs/Rehabs

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold a valid medical license in the state of practice
• Candidate must hold a valid DEA/Controlled Substance License in the state of practice
• Candidate must have completed a valid U.S. residency program
• Candidate must have completed a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with on-site staff
• Effective communication skills with the geriatric or Medicare population
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to use email, the internet, and to learn other healthcare related software

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move inside a facility frequently and walk briskly in order to see patients, meet with managers/facility staff and attend to patient needs
• Ability to document in an EMR system on a laptop computer
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs in a facility
• Some ability to position oneself to obtain records, tools, medical equipment and other items that may be in locations that are below the knee or above the shoulder
• Effectively communicate with patients, nurse practitioners, and facility staff in English
• Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
