Job summary

HealthDrive in Maryland is seeking a part-time Attending Physician to manage new admissions and collaborate with on-site NPs in SNF and rehab units. This on-site role offers flexible scheduling with no nights or on-calls.

You will provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care by rounding on residents, guiding care plans, and ensuring regulatory compliance. A state medical license, US residency, and DEA license are required, along with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid medical license in the state of practice
  • Must hold a valid DEA/Controlled Substance License in the state of practice
  • Must have completed a valid U.S. residency program
  • Must have completed a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with on-site staff
  • Effective communication skills with the geriatric or Medicare population
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to use email, the internet, and to learn other healthcare related software

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Attending Physician for skilled nursing facilities/rehabs and participate in administrative and quality initiatives for assigned facilities
  • Attend and participate in monthly quality assurance/regulatory meetings and quarterly staff meetings
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide guidance to facility staff, oversee clinical care plans, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and supervise facility clinical staff
  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners to manage daily resident care with a full-time NP at each facility
  • Provide high quality, patient-centered primary care by rounding on patients residing in SNFs/Rehabs

Overview

HealthDrive is looking for a part-time (1-2 days per week) Attending Physician to handle new admissions and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners that are attending to skilled nursing residents in both the sub-acute rehab and long-term care units. The Attending Physician will promote good health practices and work collaboratively as a member of the medical staff. This is an on-site position (NOT remote).

Responsibilities
  • The physician will serve as the Attending Physician for skilled nursing facilities/rehabs and will participate in administrative and quality initiatives for assigned facilities
  • Attending Physician will attend and participate in monthly quality assurance/regulatory meetings and quarterly staff meetings
  • The Attending Physician will participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide guidance to facility staff, oversee clinical care plans, compliance with state and federal regulations, and supervise facility clinical staff
  • The physician collaborates with Nurse Practitioners to manage the daily care for each resident at each facility. Each facility will have a full-time NP assigned to the facility depending on the acuity and volume of the patient population
  • The Attending Physician will provide high quality, patient-centered, comprehensive primary care services by rounding on patients residing in SNFs/Rehabs

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move inside a facility frequently and walk briskly in order to see patients, meet with managers/facility staff and attend to patient needs
  • Ability to document in an EMR system on a laptop computer
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs in a facility
  • Some ability to position oneself to obtain records, tools, medical equipment and other items that may be in locations that are below the knee or above the shoulder
  • Effectively communicate with patients, nurse practitioners, and facility staff in English
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
