The community you’ll be caring for:

  • Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando
  • Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean, and South America
  • Houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and cardiac catheterization labs in the country
  • Provides service to over 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients annually

The role you’ll contribute:

The Attendant – Nutritional Services, under close supervision, serves patients of diverse ages, cultures, and backgrounds by taking menu orders in person and over the phone, utilizing a computerized diet office application, and basic knowledge of therapeutic diets. Responsibilities include assembling trays, delivering food, building relationships with Nursing, and ensuring compliance with standards. Participates in process improvement and maintains excellent customer service.

  • Utilizes the computerized diet system to guide patient menu selections, suggests menu enhancements, and maintains records of patient preferences.
  • Follows scripting during menu ordering, uses bedside menu entry, and demonstrates competency with electronic systems.
  • Assembles trays per guidelines, checks for accuracy, and assists with food prep as needed.
  • Builds positive relationships with Nursing, maintains professionalism, and communicates effectively.
  • Provides quality customer service, responds to concerns, and implements service recovery.
  • Follows HIPAA and safety regulations, maintains cleanliness, handles inventory, and participates in PI projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Professional communication skills in person and over the phone
  • Customer interaction skills, prompt and courteous
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with software and hardware (e.g., iPad, ToughBook)

Knowledge and skills preferred:

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Effective multi-tasking skills
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

Education and experience required:

  • Two years of customer service experience

Education and experience preferred:

  • Associate’s degree in management, liberal arts, food and nutrition, or business

Licensure, certification or registration required:
