Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining cleanliness of patients' rooms and hospital common areas.
• Moving, transporting, and handling hazardous waste within the facility.
• Reducing airborne allergens and contaminants, and eliminating surface germs, bacteria, and viruses.
• Ensuring the patient's stay is comfortable by maintaining a clean environment.
• Managing department supplies and ensuring cleanliness standards are met.
• Assuming additional responsibilities as required or directed specific to the unit.
• Modeling appropriate behavior aligned with The Methodist Mission, Vision, and Values.

What you will do

• Maintain floors daily in conjunction with Floor Care Attendants.
• Perform daily and terminal cleaning of equipment, beds, and patient care areas.
• Transport and handle hazardous waste safely within the facility.
• Provide and maintain supplies and equipment in all patient care areas.
• Recognize and respond to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
• Maintain and store equipment in a clean and safe condition.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
• Promote positive customer relations and contribute to team efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Formal Training Requirements

• No formal education required.

Work Experience Requirements

• 1-3 years of housekeeping experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow instructions in English.
• Knowledge of customer service principles.
• Understanding of policies, procedures, and equipment used in cleaning and maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Supervision

• No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

• Activities include climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motions.
• Must have good balance and coordination.
• Physical exertion may involve lifting up to 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.
• Requires good visual acuity for detailed and general observations.
