Job summary

Southwestern Illinois College is seeking a Coordinator of Safety and Training (Grant Funded) to ensure proper training for ATS staff and drivers and to maintain the fleet safety program. The role leads accident investigations, oversees video surveillance, and identifies safety issues to advise management.

It may require DOT testing and on-call duties, with flexibility in hours and external funding dependency.

Qualifications

• Two years driving or dispatching experience in transportation; training experience preferred.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Meets drug and alcohol testing requirements and MVR checks as per ATS/SWIC guidelines.
• Knowledge of Federal and State Motor Carrier policies and regulations.
• Must have or obtain and maintain a CDL license to drive ATS vehicles.
• Familiar with desktop publishing and video editing programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper training of ATS staff and drivers.
• Maintain integrity of the ATS Fleet Safety Program and lead accident investigations.
• Oversee the ATS video surveillance system.
• Identify safety issues and trends; make recommendations to ATS management.
• Assist in driver selection/evaluation from a safety perspective.
• On-call for accidents and emergencies; participate in DOT testing as required.
• Operate with limited supervision and sound judgment.
