Job summary

  • Analyzes pricing trends and variances; uses category management tools.

WAGE RANGE: $15.00-$20.00

Responsibilities
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through prompt, efficient, and quality service.
  • Sets up and maintains inventory and invoiced items to facilitate accurate entry into and depletion through the point-of-sale and inventory tracking system.
  • Assists merchandise supervisor by professionally communicating with suppliers/vendors regarding cost negotiation, guaranteed products, check-in/receiving, credits, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Enter related information into the inventory system; generates variance reports by individual retail location, ensures accuracy, and resolves variance issues.
  • Reconciles and updates invoices to accurately reflect the cost of sales, profit margin, promotions, and changing trends.
  • Assists monitoring and controlling Par levels and price points, and tracks and monitors promotions.
  • Independently able to generate and create a variety of reports related to merchandise management.
  • Analyze pricing trends and/or variances. Must demonstrate complete competency in category management.
  • Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the inventory database.
  • Enter retail information into the inventory system; generates variance reports and assists with investigation and variance resolution.
  • Performs other merchandise-related duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Participates in physical inventory counts for various departments.
  • Functions will require long periods of computer use, calculator, and 10-key, which include repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Perform duties in compliance with company standards and generally accepted accounting practices. Comply with regulatory laws, PP&P, department policy and procedures, codes, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to professionally and effectively work with others. Promotes internal guest service standards by treating employees with courtesy and respect, reflecting a positive attitude.
  • Handles inquiries promptly and efficiently, deferring disputes or conflicts to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience in inventory control and/or maintaining a price book in retail or related field OR one (1) year combined merchandising experience with POS operation and involved competency regarding price book or back‑office familiarization.
  • Six (6) months of customer service experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED or 10 years of experience.
  • Computer literate and experienced with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Hands‑on experience with point-of-sale systems, margin analysis, price book, and/or inventory systems.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills - verbally provide instruction, respond to questions, and have exceptional friendly and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Stand/sit for long periods at work/computer station and perform the repetitive motion of arms, wrists, and fingers.
  • Need to Bend, lift, and maneuver large bulky items up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule, working regular shift hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with no history of motor vehicle‑related citation or arrest conviction(s) within the last five (5) years in any state per WRC insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with merchandising, price book, and/or inventory tracking software in a retail convenience store, travel center, or related field.
