Job summary

Waterloo Community School District is seeking a part-time School Bus Driver for athletics and activities to transport middle and high school students to events. The role requires a valid Iowa CDL with P and S endorsements, a clean driving record, and the ability to work within district policies and safety regulations.

The position involves 4–6 hours per route, with post-offer drug screening and background checks required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Iowa CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements required (training provided).
• Must meet Iowa DoE and DoT requirements including background checks and physical exam.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus while promoting a safe environment.
• Adhere to traffic laws, district policies, and transportation regulations.
• Assist students as needed, including those with special needs.
• Communicate delays, accidents or safety concerns to the Transportation Department.
• Complete required reports, including mileage logs and maintenance requests.
• Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development.
