Job summary

Pawtucket School Department is seeking a Part-time Assistant Athletic Director to support the Athletic Director in managing interscholastic athletics for high schools and middle schools in Pawtucket, RI. The role reports to the Athletic Director and involves coordinating budgets, schedules, travel, and events.

The position requires evening/weekend availability across three athletic seasons, a valid driver's license, and experience supervising personnel.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree is required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Two years of successful performance as an athletic coach; experience as an Assistant Athletics Director preferred.
• Certifications for the athletic director position required by RIIL and RI Department of Education.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace product suites.
• Availability for work during evenings and weekends throughout the three athletic seasons, as well as summer, as necessary.
• Previous experience supervising personnel.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Athletic Director in the preparation of the annual budget.
• Coordinate the purchase of equipment under the direction of the Athletic Director.
• Prepare the master sports calendar that includes league and non-league games/events.
• Coordinate gym, building and athletic field use for practices and games.
• Assist in scheduling all athletic departure times and provide bus supervision.
• Arrange travel for players or teams competing in postseason competition.
• Assist in hiring staff (officials, coaches, etc.) following hiring policies.
• Report new employees to HR per procedures.
• Act as a resource for coaches.
• Supervise at home athletic events.
• Collaborate with schools to address concerns about the athletic program.
• Coordinate with Parks and Recreation and RIIL for field maintenance and eligibility issues.
• Prepare seasons and team awards nights with coaches.
• Ensure health and safety of student athletes with medical documentation.
