Job summary

Newman University in Wichita, Kansas, seeks a Graduate Assistant for Women's Softball to assist in day-to-day team operations and training sessions. The role requires nights, weekends, and holidays and aligns with the University mission rooted in Catholic values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree completed.
• Enrolled full-time in a Master’s program (6+ credit hours/semester) during fall and spring.
• Previous experience in a college athletic setting.
• Genuine interest in and willingness to work with students.
• Ability to motivate staff and work with varied constituencies on and off campus.
• Strong organizational and computer skills.
• AED and/or CPR training preferred.
• Must have a US driver’s license with at least 1 year of clean driving history.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with coaching staff and team members to assist with team operations.
• Assist head coach in planning and running team training sessions.
• Assist with scouting reports.
• Aid in recruiting and retention efforts.
• Assist with travel planning and scheduling coordination.
• Coordinate mentoring, tutoring, or other athlete support.
• Conduct oneself professionally and ethically at all times.
• Develop working knowledge of NCAA compliance rules.
• Complete all university trainings including FERPA and Title IX.
• Contribute to the overall success of the Athletics Department as assigned.
