Job summary

Colby College seeks an Assistant/Associate Director of Athletic Fundraising to advance annual and capital support for Colby Athletics and Recreation. You will qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, and friends to reach a $3.2M area goal for FY27, with different scopes by rank.

The role partners with coaches and volunteers to manage varsity boards and engage donors through events, communications, and campaign initiatives, building leadership gifts from $2,500 to $100,000+.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience.
• 3–5 years of fundraising or related experience; demonstrated success in making direct solicitations preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Organizational and time management skills; ability to work in team and independently
• Assistant Director requires minimum 2 years fundraising/communications experience; athletics annual giving experience preferred
• Experience with email marketing tools, database management, and Microsoft Office; GiveCampus and Blackbaud experience preferred
• Professional conduct and handling of confidential information
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines
• Experience managing volunteers and complex relationships; moves management understanding
• Willingness to travel and to work nights/weekends
• Valid driver’s license and Fleet Safety Policy compliance

Responsibilities

• Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of Colby alumni, parents, and friends for leadership gifts
• Partner with Colby Fund team to design and execute multi-channel communications and giving challenges
• Manage a portfolio of athletics alumni varsity boards to increase participation and annual fund support
• Participate in events and programs to engage volunteers and move solicitations forward
• Collaborate with coaches on budgeting, goal-setting, solicitations, and board management
• Routinely gather and analyze data to assign donors to gift officers
• Share updates and fundraising needs with divisional colleagues
• Attend athletics contests and events to represent athletics engagement
• Perform additional duties as assigned
