Qualifications

• Valid Texas commercial driver's license (Class B)
• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to pass alcohol and drug tests
• Ability to complete required bus driver safety training

• Knowledge of student discipline procedures
• Ability to manage student behavior
• Ability to operate bus

Responsibilities

• Drive the bus to and from extracurricular activities
• Follow assigned routes and schedules
• Check bus for mechanical defects before and after operation; notify supervisor of repairs
• Report accidents, vehicle damage, injuries, and mechanical failures; complete reports
• Keep assigned bus clean and fueled
• Supervise students boarding and exiting the bus
• Communicate with teachers about student behavior on the bus
• Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations
• Observe traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses
• Inspect bus and emergency equipment to ensure safe operation
• Operate two-way radio with transportation office
• Work irregular hours as needed
• Attend and complete training to maintain safety certification
• Keep records on bus mileage, fuel, oil, and passengers transported
