Job summary

Iowa School for the Deaf seeks an Athletics and Activities Coordinator to lead ISD’s athletics and activities department, aligning programs with the school’s educational philosophy. You will manage schedules, events, and logistics while ensuring adherence to state athletic association rules.

Qualifications

• Activities Administrator authorization or the ability to serve as a licensed Athletic/Activity Director with a degree in Education.
• ASL proficiency: Advanced proficiency in American Sign Language(ASL) is highly preferred; ability to reach ISD proficiency levels upon hire and within the established time frame is required.
• Prior experience as an Athletic/Activity Director is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and administer ISD's athletics and activities department.
• Represent the school at League, Conference, and State meetings.
• Ensure compliance with the rules and bylaws of the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union.
• Schedule physical examinations with the health center per eligibility requirements.
• Maintain permanent records for each sport and report to publications.
• Develop interscholastic game and youth sports schedules and approve published schedules.
• Arrange transportation, lodging, meals for events and manage event contracts.
• Provide oversight for after-school youth activities and full summer programming, including staffing and registrations.
• Supervise staff and volunteers, coach selection, and coach development guidance.
• Manage fiscal records, budgeting, and procurement for athletic programs.
• Maintain facilities and equipment with the Facilities Director, and handle inventory.
• Promote interscholastic sports through Outreach and Booster programs and communications.
• Maintain student-athlete records and eligibility, disciplinary actions, and compliance forms.
• Engage in continuous improvement of ISD’s athletics and activities program.
• Support ED and ISD priorities with other duties as assigned.
