Job summary

Rice University is seeking an Assistant Director of Academic Advising for Athletics to lead planning and delivery of advising for student-athletes. The role works closely with the Senior Associate Director to ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules and to support academic planning and programming.

The ideal candidate has experience advising Division I student-athletes, with strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 2+ years in academic advising for athletics or similar educational work experience.
• Experience advising Division I student-athletes and knowledge of NCAA eligibility requirements.
• Experience with advising systems such as Banner, Navigate, and DegreeWorks is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Advise undergraduate students across diverse interests and needs.
• Assist with Orientation Week programming and advising activities.
• Prepare and present information to administrators, faculty advisors, and students during Orientation Week and throughout the year.
• Develop and distribute academic advising resources from peer schools and Rice departments.
