Summary:
This Certified Athletic Trainer position supports the UNC Health Lenoir Sports Medicine Program and UNC Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Lenoir outpatient clinic. The athletic trainer has an atypical work schedule, as the position must be available on a scheduled basis for varsity and junior varsity athletic activities, including in-school training, after-school practices, home games, responding to injuries and illnesses, and assisting in educational seminars. The position requires clinical evaluation and educational skills consistent with an athletic trainer working as a physician extender. Responsibilities include injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as per NATA standards. The athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, fitting athletic equipment, and will carry out treatments under physician supervision. Assistance to orthopedic providers at UNC Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Lenoir for educational and experiential purposes is also expected.

Education: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
Licensure/Certification: Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), licensed or license-eligible in North Carolina, BLS certification.
Experience: One year of athletic trainer experience preferred.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, including medical terminology.
