Job summary

Memorial Health System is seeking an Athletic Trainer to evaluate patients, establish treatment plans, and provide medically prescribed athletic training to restore function after disease or injury. Work includes both indoor and outdoor settings with variable shifts, in collaboration with physicians and other staff.

You will perform initial evaluations, document care in EMR, assist in procedures, and offer nutrition/exercise guidance, brace fitting, and school-based coverage on a PRN basis.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree in sports medicine or athletic training.
• Ohio and West Virginia athletic trainer licenses are required.
• BOC certification and BLS certification are required.
• Maintain compliance with RQI program.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and establish treatment plans for recovery.
• Provide medically prescribed athletic training and assist physicians.
• Document care in electronic medical records and schedule/coordinate care.
• Teach patients about exercises, nutrition, and injury prevention.
• Brace fitting and clinical support in clinic and high school settings on a PRN basis.
• Collaborate with physicians and other departments to ensure quality care.

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for evaluating patients, establishing treatment plans, and administering medically prescribed athletic training to restore function following disease, injury or disability. Location of work includes indoor and outdoor environments with variable work shifts. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.Job Functions:Performs initial athletic training evaluations.Demonstrates clinical competence by independent use, precautions, and safety in various treatments.Demonstrates competence in various exercises/testing modalities.Demonstrates an ability to teach patients.Completes documentation in an appropriate manner.Assists in the day-to-day operations of the clinic: Scheduling patient appointments/rooming patients/taking vitals/test scheduling/insurance precertification/inputting orders/electronic medical documentation/daily correspondence with other departments/tracking patient referrals/ordering medical supplies.Working directly with the Physician, assisting with Physician-performed procedures.Provide nutrition and exercise education and counseling.Brace fitting.Provides athletic training services to contracted high schools on a PRN basis.Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.Minimum Education/Experience Required:Bachelor's Degree or higher in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training required.Licensure in the State of Ohio and West Virginia as an Athletic Trainer required.BOC certification required.BLS certification required.Maintain compliance in RQI.Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, excellent eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, and basic numerical skills.Must be capable of assisting with transfer lifting of patients.Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.Benefits: Memorial Health System is proud to offer an affordable, comprehensive benefit package to all full time and flex time employees.
