Job summary

Ball State University is seeking an athletic trainer to lead day-to-day health care operations for Intercollegiate Athletics and supervise assigned sports. You will evaluate injuries, refer to physicians as needed, and design rehabilitation plans in coordination with the team physician.

You will also supervise athletic training students, coordinate with the Strength and Conditioning staff, and may teach as directed by the School chair. Compliance with NCAA and conference rules is essential.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations for day-to-day operations of the health care program for Intercollegiate Athletics.
• Serve as the athletic trainer and supervise one or more sports daily as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Evaluate injuries and decide on physician referrals for assigned sports.
• Design and implement rehabilitation and therapeutic programs for assigned sports with the team physician.
• Supervise athletic training students in the athletic training major.
• Direct communication between athlete, training room staff, team physicians, and coaching staff for assigned sports.
• Coordinate with Strength and Conditioning Coach regarding rehab programs for injured athletes.
• Some teaching may be included as assigned by the Chair of the School of Physical Education, Sport, and Exercise Science.
• Show commitment to adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
