Job summary

OrthoNebraska is seeking an Athletic Trainer – Performance Testing Specialist to provide objective testing and outcomes reporting to support evidence-based rehabilitation. You will collaborate with physicians, therapists, and sports performance staff to improve patient outcomes and safely return patients to activity.

The role requires Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) with preferred NATA BOC certification and BLS.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs objective strength, movement and functional performance assessments using approved testing technologies.

Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer – Performance Testing Specialist provides objective testing and outcomes reporting services to support evidence-based rehabilitation. This role collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, athletic trainers, sports performance specialists, and other rehabilitation professionals to improve patient outcomes, and support safe return to activity.

Hours/Schedule

40 / Five (5) 8-Hour shifts, between 7a - 7p

Education

Certified Athletic Trainer or related field required.

Licensure

Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) preferred.

Certification

National Certification by NATA BOC (Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers) preferred or other related certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of hire.

Experience

• 1+ years’ experience Athletic Training preferred.
• Experience performing biomechanical assessments, movement analysis, strength testing, performance testing, rehabilitation, or sports performance services preferred.
• Experience utilizing objective testing technologies such as Biodex, force plates, motion capture systems, wearable technology, or similar assessment tools preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong understanding of biomechanics, human movement, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and sports performance principles.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and communicate objective performance and testing data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to educate patients, athletes, providers, and rehabilitation professionals.
• Strong team orientation and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to utilize technology and data analytics to support clinical decision making.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with referring providers and community partners.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs objective strength, movement and functional performance assessments utilizing approved testing technologies.
• Analyzes movement patterns and performance data to identify impairments and opportunities for performance improvement.
• Generates detailed reports and provides actionable recommendations to patients, providers, therapists, athletic trainers, and sports performance staff, coordinating care to improve patient outcomes.
• Supports rehabilitation progression and return-to-sport/activity decision making through objective testing and outcomes measurement.
• Participates in the OrthoNebraska Return-to-Sport/Activity Value-Based Enterprise (VBE) supporting the advancement of testing and movement analysis services.
• Ensures testing services support clinical decision making, injury prevention and return-to-sport/activity clearance.
• Assists with program development and growth, monitoring outcomes and promoting, quality improvement initiatives.
• Contributes to research, data collection, outcome tracking, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Provides education and mentorship to students, staff, and healthcare professionals.
• Responsible for all other duties assigned.

Physical Requirements

This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
