Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management supports Mentor High School with a part-time athletic trainer who evaluates athletes on and off the field, develops care plans, and educates families on prevention and treatment. The role requires accurate documentation in UH systems and collaboration with the Athletic Director and senior trainers.

Responsibilities include handling equipment, inventory, and billing tasks as needed, while maintaining PHI compliance and following UH policies.

• Selects and uses a variety of appropriate treatment techniques
• Educates athlete/family in applicable treatment and prevention
• Keeps documentation up to date via UH injury tracking software
• Assists Athletic Director with ordering supplies, inventories, billing, etc.
• Meets with senior athletic trainer regularly to review competencies and patient care at the site
• Performs other duties as assigned; adheres to all policies and PHI requirements

Supports athletes and athletic programs by providing comprehensive fitness, nutrition, injury care and conditioning programs

What You Will Do

• Performs athlete evaluation on/off the field; provides immediate care as needed and/or develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to the athlete’s needs.
• Selects and competently uses a variety of appropriate treatment techniques.
• Educates athlete/family in applicable treatment and prevention.
• Regularly uses and keeps up-to-date documentation via UH preferred injury tracking software,
• Performs other activities such as, but not limited to assisting Athletic Director in ordering supplies and keeping current inventories, billing, etc
• Meets with senior athletic trainer regularly to review competencies and skills to navigate patient care and function of sports and athletes at their assigned location.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
