Job summary

Duke Health is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care at the Duke Orthopaedics Clinic in Raleigh, NC.

The role includes patient intake, physical examinations, documentation in the EHR, and collaboration with physicians to develop care plans. A CAATE-accredited bachelor's degree and NATABOC certification are required, with travel to Apex clinic once a week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with point-of-care testing and follow-up care as directed.
• Document evaluations and testing in the Electronic Health Record.
• Collaborate with supervising physician to plan care.
• Other duties as assigned by manager or HR.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Orthopaedic Clinic located in Raleigh, NC

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform appropriate patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, thorough history of condition or injury, chief complaint, assessment of pain level, completion and / or review of past medical history, family history social history and medication reconciliation.
• Perform appropriate physical examination per patient history and chief complaint. This includes but is not limited to palpation of the affected area and unaffected area, range of motion testing, strength testing / manual muscle testing / dynamic muscle testing, myotome/dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing, or functional testing.
• At direction of supervising physician, perform appropriate point of care testing and order appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care.
• Document all aspects of evaluation, testing appropriately within the Electronic Health Record.
• Collaborate with supervising physician to develop an appropriate plan of care for treatment/interventions.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager or HCA

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or equivalent from a CAATE accredited program required
• NATABOC Certification (National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification) is required
• Must be able to travel to Apex clinic 1x per week.
