Job description

Position Summary:
We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will support our Sports Orthopedic clinical and educational programs, implement injury prevention strategies, provide emergency care and first aid, evaluate athletic injuries, and develop medically prescribed therapeutic reconditioning programs in schools. The role also involves providing school sports coverage across various educational levels and developing community outreach and educational programs aligned with our departmental and institutional goals. The Athletic Trainer will assist in program development and ensure compliance with policies and standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide athletic training services for contracted schools.
  2. Perform initial assessments of injuries during games or practices, provide first aid, monitor injuries, and coordinate follow-up care. Assist athletes with home exercise programs as prescribed.
  3. Follow proper medical practices, use medical, social, and psychological information to set goals, review cases with medical professionals, and maintain all treatment equipment and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
  4. Assist with the implementation and re-evaluation of athletic policies, coordinate with school health staff, and provide injury prevention advice and equipment fitting.
  5. Evaluate and treat offsite injuries, maintain documentation, and facilitate pre-participation exams.
  6. Adhere to scheduled assignments, cover sporting events as needed, and participate in community outreach, educational programs, and relationship development with sports organizations.
  7. Demonstrate knowledge of service standards and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program, NYS Department of Education Athletic Training License, BOC Certification, CPR and AED Certification, strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Required Licenses: Athletic Trainer

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in athletic training, 5 years of experience, and certifications such as CSCS, CSCCA, or ACSM.

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
