Job Description

The Athletic Trainer specializes in the healthcare of athletes. The trainer plays a key role in preventing, recognizing, managing, rehabilitating, and educating athletes and their families about sports injuries. Responsibilities include planning and implementing treatment programs based on athletic training principles. In the occupational health clinic, the athletic trainer conducts testing such as pre-employment, post-accident, and annual assessments.

  • Perform strength testing for post-offer purposes, breath alcohol, drug screen collections, audiometry, respirator fit testing, and spirometry testing.
  • Assist in clinic operations by greeting customers, answering phones, and communicating with patients and employers.
  • Certified to perform urine collection and breath alcohol testing for DOT and NON-DOT standards.
  • Understand the post-offer physical process and play a significant role in patient testing.
  • Provide medical assistance to physicians during workers' compensation and sports medicine cases.
  • Document services and complete daily documentation within the EMR system.
  • Maintain knowledge of customer needs and satisfaction for contracted services.
  • Perform patient education as directed by physicians, including crutch training, splint, and brace application.
  • Assist in donning and doffing casting applications.
  • Support physicians in office procedures such as joint injections, fluid drainage, and ultrasound-guided procedures.

  • Licenses: State licensure as a Licensed Athletic Trainer, NATA certification, and CPR certification required. Additional preferred licenses include DOT and BAT collector certifications, CAOCH, and NIOSH.
