Job Overview

Our Spokane facility specializes in orthopedics, and we have an opportunity for an on-call Community Certified Athletic Trainer!

The Community Athletic Trainer (CATC) is responsible for providing on-site assessment and management of injuries (both acute and chronic) to athletes at assigned facilities. The CATC will deliver immediate appropriate treatment, provide referrals to outside healthcare providers, and may develop training programs and educate athletes on injury prevention, conditioning, and treatment. Treatment may include rehabilitation and reconditioning as athletes recover.

The compensation for this position ranges from $21.54 to $32.31 per hour, depending on experience and department equity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services in schools or other non-clinical settings as per contract, serving as the onsite Athletic Trainer for various sports.
  • Deliver sports medical care, including evaluations, diagnosis, acute care, treatment, and rehabilitation, within the scope of athletic training.
  • Attend scheduled practices and games as specified in agreements.
  • Implement injury-specific treatment programs compliant with state licensing laws.
  • Act as a liaison between athletes, families, physicians, school personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain injury, treatment, and medication profiles; provide reports to SHC and school staff to support program development.
  • Communicate regularly with other athletic trainers and sports staff regarding athlete injuries, especially serious cases like concussions.
  • Coordinate with rehabilitation teams to ensure continuity of post-injury therapy.
  • Supervise and mentor student athletic trainers from approved programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide outpatient clinical athletic training services as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC) or applicable state credential.
  • WA State Athletic Trainer licensure.
  • Current First Aid CPR/AED certification (BLS).

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • At least three years of athletic training experience.
  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g., CSCS, CNS, LMT).
  • BLS instructor certification.
