Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting Physicians and/or Mid-level Providers in the clinic setting, hospital, and DME department. Duties include fitting and educating patients on Durable Medical Equipment (DME), applying/removing casts, coordinating insurance and billing, and maintaining equipment and exam rooms.

Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure patient forms are complete and entered into the system.
  • Check EMR for progress notes and stat orders; prepare charge tickets.
  • Enter DME charges and manage inventory accurately.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and explain coverage to patients.
  • Fit patients with orthoses, including evaluation, modification, and patient training.
  • Schedule DME appointments and coordinate with vendors based on insurance restrictions.
  • Maintain office and clinical equipment, restock supplies, and ensure cleanliness.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, gather equipment, and respond to instructions.
  • Remove dressings, apply/remove casts and splints, and educate patients on DME and follow-up care.
  • Attend in-services and departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Ohio license in Athletic Training; BOC certification preferred; BLS required.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.
