UPMC Sports Medicine is hiring an Athletic Trainer to support needs in and around the Pittsburgh area on a casual basis. The role places you within a team led by renowned sports medicine experts in state-of-the-art facilities across the network.

Responsibilities include evaluations, care plans, and interventions, with ongoing professional development and collaboration with CRS facilities, physicians, and other specialists.

Qualifications

• BOC certification as athletic trainer required
• Licensed athletic trainer in Pennsylvania required
• CPR/AED for adults and children per AHA standards required
• Act 114 PDE FBI clearance required
• Act 168 clearance required
• Act 33 with renewal required
• Act 34 with renewal required

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services following applicable ethics and professional standards
• Perform evaluations, develop plans of care, and select treatment/rehabilitation strategies
• Record accurate incident documentation per department policies
• Collaborate with other UPMC services and staff
• Engage in professional development and continuing education
• Deliver athletic training at events sponsored by UPMC Sports Medicine

Job description

UPMC Sports Medicine is hiring an Athletic Trainer to join our team on a casual basis supporting needs in and around the Pittsburgh area!

UPMC Sports Medicine is one of the nation’s largest employers of athletic trainers with approximately 200 staff members. As a staff member in our program, you will be part of a team led by world-renowned sports medicine experts that work in state-of-the-art facilities. We have comprehensive physician, imaging, physical therapy, concussion, nutrition, and sports performance services that serve as resources to you.

Candidates will be placed into the appropriate level based on experience:

• Athletic Trainer I and Athletic Trainer II

Responsibilities:

• Provides athletic training services following the rules and regulations of the National Athletic Trainers Association Code of Ethics, BOC Standards of Professional Practice, Pennsylvania State Practice Act and Pennsylvania Rules & Regulations for Licensed Athletic Trainers, and UPMC system-wide and Athletic Training & Development department-specific Policies and Procedures.
• Provides evaluations, establishes plans of care, and selects appropriate treatment and rehabilitation interventions.
• Presents one in-service education program annually according to established departmental guidelines.
• Maintains, completes and submits appropriate electronic and written incident documentation for the contracted organization per departmental policies and procedures.
• Proactive in building relationships with UPMC services (CRS facilities, neuropsychologists, physicians, etc.)
• Participates in professional growth and development related to the field of sports medicine to further his/her knowledge
• Provides athletic training services within contractual guidelines utilizing UPMC and site-specific Written Protocol and adhering to Written Physician Agreements
• Participates in athletic training services at special events sponsored by UPMC Sports Medicine.
• Participates in community education programming approved by UPMC Sports Medicine.
• Certified as an athletic trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC).
• Licensed as an athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Emergency Cardiac Care based on AHA standards including both didactic and skills demonstrations. Course must include following areas: adult & pediatric CPR, AED, airway obstruction, 2nd rescuer CPR and barrier devices (e.g., pocket mask, bag valve mask). Proof of course completion must be presented within 30 days of hire.
